If you’re looking for a new community to call home that checks all of the boxes, we may have the perfect one for you. Canterbury Crossing is a brand new community in Transcona that is NOW SELLING! You can book an appointment and start building your dream home as soon as you’d like, and with many homes already under construction, you could be one of the first residents to call this lovely new community home. Between its location and the amenities it provides, Canterbury Crossing has a lot to offer - let’s get into the details!

Easy Commute

Situated on the very east edge of Transcona, Canterbury Crossing is in a prime location for those who want an easy commute in or out of the city. It is minutes to the perimeter with Dugald Road running north-south just outside of the community, so whether you’re heading further into the city or around it, your journey out of Canterbury Crossing will be a breeze. There is also a roundabout located on Ravenhurst Street which will keep the traffic flowing down the main strip, and with multiple entrances into the community, you can pick the one that’s closest to home.

Community Highlights

Canterbury Crossing boasts 77 acres of master planned community that will be the perfect place to spend your evenings or weekends outside, roaming the walking trails or connecting with your neighbors. A naturalized lake retention system provides a scenic space for your evening strolls while serving an important purpose. Storm water runoff will be collected in this lake, preventing standing water and keeping the waterways healthy. This will also create a safe haven for wildlife and allows vegetation to flourish. You can enjoy the sounds of birds singing and grass rustling in the wind – it will truly be a nature lover’s retreat.

Two informal playing fields are also included in the community plans, along with a playground for your younger children. Your kids can look forward to evening pick-up games of soccer or just running around with their friends without having to leave the community to do so. There will also be an off-leash dog park for your furry family members with one area for small breeds and another, bigger area for your large breed dogs. Whether you’re taking them for walks around the community or stopping by the dog parks to let them run freely, you can rest assured that they have a safe place to burn some of their energy.

Nearby Schools

Transcona is a tight-knit community, and being right on the edge of it, the residents of Canterbury Crossing have access to many of the schools that are located here. There are many options for kids of all ages, and a few of French Immersion schools if you want your children to have a bilingual education.

The schools closest to Canterbury Crossing include:

  •         Wayoata Elementary School
  •         Arthur Day Middle School
  •         Murdoch MacKay Collegiate
  •         College Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau

While these are great options, there are still others you can look into to see what the best fit for your kids will be. You can check them out here.

If you have university/college aged kids, there are multiple bus stops within walking distance, so they’ll have no trouble getting where they need to go.

Parks

Transcona has been nicknamed “Park City”, and for good reason. There are a whopping 14 parks within Transcona, not including the two that will be developed in Canterbury Crossing. Ranging from parks with big spans of open green space, to those with play structures, soccer nets or baseball diamonds, if you want to venture out of Canterbury Crossing for a change of scenery (not that you’ll need to!) you won’t have to go far.

Nearby Amenities

Another one of the great things about Canterbury Crossing is that it is secluded enough that you don’t feel like you’re in the centre of the hustle and bustle of city living, but you’re also close to the amenities you’ll need on a day-to-day basis. Safeway is less than 5 minutes away, with a strip mall sitting adjacent which has a credit union, Subway, Liquor Mart and the East Winnipeg Fit Body Boot Camp. A Shell gas station is just behind, and if you head west, just past Plessis is another set of grocery and convenience stores. You’ll have quite the variety of options in a close proximity to home.

If you’re looking for even more options, you won’t have to go much further up the road. Stores like Costco, Walmart, Canadian Tire and so much more are only ten minutes away. You’re sure to find what you’re looking for without having to travel too far away from home.
